Northern Lights Description
Northern Lights stands as one of the most iconic and in-demand Indica strains in cannabis history. Believed to be a hybrid of Afghani and Thai landrace genetics, its true origins remain somewhat uncertain. Some suggest it was first cultivated in Washington during the 1970s before making its way to the Netherlands. There, breeder Neville Schoenmaker developed several phenotypes in the 1980s for The Seed Bank, which later evolved into Sensi Seeds.
Since its commercial debut in 1985 under Sensi Seeds, Northern Lights has become a cornerstone of Indica cannabis. The most renowned variant, Northern Lights #5, earned top honors at the Cannabis Cup in 1989, 1990, and 1992. Today, Sensi Seeds continues to offer Northern Lights in feminized, regular, and autoflowering seed options.
Northern Light Grow Info
Northern Lights is fairly simple to cultivate both indoors and outdoors. It typically reaches a moderate height and produces dense, resin-rich buds with dark green foliage. The flowering period lasts about 45 to 50 days. For outdoor growth, a sunny and comfortably warm climate tends to yield the best results. This strain is often praised for its deeply relaxing, full-body effects and sedative euphoria. It’s also recognized for its distinctive sweet and spicy aroma, complemented by a skunky, earthy taste.
